Why Did We Choose This Area?
Our goal is to plant transformational churches in areas in and around Indianapolis without a strong church presence. The first location for Imagine Church will be in Westfield, Indiana, a norther suburb of Indianapolis. Here is some detailed information about why we chose the Westfield area and Hamilton County.
HAMILTON COUNTY is the fastest growing county in Indiana and among the top 20 fastest growing counties in the United States. (1) It has all the benefits of being near a larger metropolitan city while still retaining the friendly, comfortable living standards of the Midwest. There is a large number of young families in Hamilton County who do not attend church but are not closed to the idea and importance of the role of church personally.
There are already several growing churches in Hamilton County but nowhere near enough to keep up with the booming growth the area has experienced in recent years. Of the growing churches in the area, most are positioned geographically to draw people from Noblesville, Carmel and Fishers.
WESTFIELD is one of the northern suburbs of Hamilton County with a population of 27,089 (2) and an annual population growth of 35% to 45% since 2000. This area has experienced such high growth in recent years that there are 3 Elementary schools within 1.5 miles from each other (see map inset).
Westfield is largely made up of young families (median age is 32), most of whom (32%) have children. (3) We chose Westfield for our first location because there are very few evangelical churches located in the immediate area. There is a tremendous need need for a church like Imagine to serve Westfield and the surrounding area.
Our Launch Team is currently meeting at River Oaks Community Church (directions) on Sunday nights (see dates) in preparation for our Fall launch. We will be launching publicly at Oak Trace Elementary School in Westfield this Fall for Phase 1 of our church growth. This school has a carpeted, sound-reinforced auditorium that will seat up to 350 people. It is surrounded by several large subdivisions and is strategically located within minutes of thousands of homes.
